Applications / nominations now CLOSED!
We’re looking for the Wellington region’s best speakers / performers to join us on Sunday 18 June and step onto the magnificent St James Theatre stage to be a part of the biggest ever TEDxWellington event.
Applications close at 6pm on Wednesday 22 March 2017.
Here’s how we choose the speakers / performers (on top of the principles TED outlines).
If selected, speakers / performers will take part in a five-week coaching course before taking to the TEDxWellington stage on 18 June. Those applying need to be available during the following times (all 6-9pm and Tuesdays): 16th May, 23rd May, 30th May, 6th June and 13th June—these coaching sessions will be be held at a central city venue and at least three of the five sessions must be attended.
What are you waiting for…?
This is a chance to speak / perform to an enthusiastic audience of more than 1,000 TEDx fans in the creative capital plus get watched on the day via the livestream which got over 5,000 viewers last year. And as past speakers and performers will tell you, the TEDxWellington stage is only the beginning.
Marie Fitzpatrick and Nic Murray of Good Bitches Baking, who spoke at the 2016 event about changing the world with cake, have been busy ever since: “We’ve nearly doubled in size, we pulled off an incredible Wellington on a Plate event and self-published a recipe book!”
Dr Shaun Holt, who spread the word about the medical uses of honey, found the TEDxWellington event to be “a fabulous experience, from the preparation and training to the big day itself.”
“My talk has become my professional business card,” says Shaun. “I send it to anyone I work with and they can see immediately what I do and my passion for the subject.”
