What’s it like to be a speaker at TEDxWellington?
Dr Shaun Holt is the bee’s knees. He holds pharmacy and medicine degrees and is an Adjunct Professor at Victoria University of Wellington. He spoke at TEDxWellington 2016 about the medical uses of honey – from clearing cold sores and genital herpes to killing MRSA. This is his TEDxWellington experience.
Tell us about TEDxWellington
It was a fabulous experience, from the preparation and training to the big day itself. I’ve done a lot of talks and media work but this was as big a thrill as any of the others I’ve done, including live TV.
How’s the experience changed how you work?
My talk has become my professional business card – I send it to anyone I work with and they can see immediately what I do and my passion for the subject.
What have you been up to since you were on the TEDxWellington stage?
I’ve been busy commercialising my honey products and developing new natural product-based treatments.
What’s next for you?
I’m in the process of starting a programme of research looking at the effects of medical marijuana.
